Lou Reed: Rock And Roll Heart - 1976
Rock And Roll Heart was released at a time when Reed’s early/mid seventies popularity was definitely on the wane.
His albums didn’t seem to carry much relevance any more, but never mind, what we had here was an offering that almost anticipated the coming new wave.
It was thirty eight minutes and twelve tracks of short, sharp, rocking tunes full of riffs and parping saxophones and influences from The New York Dolls all over the place, as well as Bowie and The Stones and it also must have had a huge influence on X-Ray Spex’s output.
Highlights are Banging On My Drum, You Wear It So Well, Ladies Pay, Rock & Roll Heart, Claim To Fame and the anthemic closer, Temporary Thing.

One of my least played Lou records. Will revisit. Temporary Thing and Senselessly Cruel are solid stampers
